Colour

Colour palette is the first thing your eye will notice when glancing at an image!

Choose a warm or cool neutral base (think beige vs grey) and build off of that with a couple of accent colors to bring in your personal style.

Patterns can be a fun way to add pops of colour, but try to stick to simple patterns of a medium or large size like minimal florals, wide stripes, or monochrome plaid, and choose complimenting outfits with colors from the print.

Try to coordinate instead of matching, having different people wearing varying shades of your color palette rather than the exact same shade. It can help to pick a "grounding" color that everyone wears in some way; pants, scarf, even just earrings, as long as it's incorporated.

Go for toned colors rather than primary colors. Think burgundy vs bright red, olive green vs Rough Riders green.

Texture & Layers

Texture adds visual interest to your outfits, and layers add movement and depth to your images. This is a great way to accessorize and add dimension and variety while sticking to your color palette.

A cozy chunky cardigan, a leather jacket, your favorite corduroy pants, a knit beanie, sparkly beaded earrings, plush socks showing above boots, a sentimental scarf, layered necklaces, bracelets, or rings. Don't be afraid to accessorize and dress up a little more than your day to day!

Try to avoid tiny patterns and thin stripes (they simply don't photograph well), as well as avoiding large logos, text, and graphics on clothing.

Using different lengths and fits of layers is great for more movement - like a long flowy skirt with a short jacket, tight tank top with a long chunky knit cardigan. Open flannels and jackets, and beanies or classy hats (no ball caps please) are great ways for men to incorporate layering and texture.
